A droplet of sunshine
Seeps through the glass
Crawls past the blinds
Drops down the windowsill
And lands on a lawn of unruly hair
Beneath a hard table, it discovers
Weeds of assignments, textbooks, review packets, summer applications, and emptied bottles of Celsius
Scattered throughout
The droplet turns into droplets
Drizzles into a downpour
Flooding the teen
Out of their ever shortening slumber
Slowly exhaling out
the remnants of the night
Inhaling
the start of a new day
The student rises
Counting down the seconds
until the sun sets again
