This poem can make people feel different ways but I feel like if you don’t take a moment to understand it you won’t get it.

This is such a touching poem made from only 6 words. You can conjure up a story of loss just from these simple words. There are a million different memories possible to convey from this small poem.

These six words were so powerful. You’re left with a wholesome beginning, but then the ending leaves you with so many questions. Why is the shirt in goodwill? What circumstances caused the family to give the shirt to goodwill? What happened to the grandpa? Sometimes the best poetry leaves you with more questions than it answers.

If you do not understand the poem at first you might think it’s almost comical, not knowing what the story means. Yet once you understand what’s happening you get extremely upset and no longer smiling.

This leaves a lot to the imagination. Why Is this shirt in goodwill? What could have led to that? At the same time, this poem brings a sense of sadness. Because even though you may never wear this shirt, it is something you keep forever.
