This artwork represents my individual point of view on how fear can lead to the feeling of being trapped. I used my imagination to show both the person’s vulnerability and the spider’s looming presence, symbolizing how small fears can be overwhelming. My creativity is expressed through the eyes and the hand covering the face, creating tension and drawing the viewer in. By showing fear from two perspectives, the piece reflects my unique viewpoint, exploring isolation, panic, and personal ways we experience anxiety.
I used graphite pencils and charcoal powder. Graphite pencils were my primary medium, because it allowed me to add fine details and smooth shading. It also provided me with different shade values. The charcoal powder helped me add dark values and cover large surface areas evenly and smoothly.
