Songs of Christmas dance through the air
As we hang up ornaments pair by pair
Fuzzy socks slip on slick floor and…
“Oh no!”
The nutcracker is the first to go
Baking cookies, dozens and dozens
“Wait, did you leave the oven running?”
Pull open windows with little a care
As clouds of smoke fill the air
Fir tree standing, tall and proud
Before a beaming, happy crowd
The holder starts to loosen his grip…
Groans as it begins to tip
Crazily clicking for last-minute gifts,
Trying to find all the things on their list
Staying up preparing all night
Till the sun brings in morning light

Sometimes I think we forget about important things
Holidays aren’t just food or presents
But the joy togetherness brings
There’s a reason it’s the most wonderful time of the year
It’s a season of magic, of wonder, of cheer
