At the beginning of a semester-long photography course I took this photo. At the time, we were studying the use of light in photos. Immediately upon coming home from school that day, I searched my entire house for a glass to diffuse sunlight. At first I tried a couple of water glasses, however, they lacked the desired effect. I finally happened upon the glass shown in the photo after searching through my mother’s china cabinets for the third time.
The moment I saw it I knew I had found what I was looking for.
Quickly taking it down and setting it on the floor in a beam of sunlight, I took a plethora of photos all while trying to get the right balance of floor, light patterns, and glass. Finally, I took this photo, and I knew I had taken a winner.
