Distant Shore

A lonely tower sits upon a distant shore
Empty chairs and tables occupy the dusty floor
Nothing comes or goes
The door is always closed
No one really comes by the tower anymore

Once upon a time, it could have housed kings,
Fire-breathing lions, or mice with wings
But the children have grown
And it’s widely known
That there could never be such things

At least, not anymore
