Bystanders in the Sky

Phoebe Taber '23

the stars have eyes.

they’ve watched us

since the beginning,

through war and peace,

birth and death

the stars can think

but have no judgement.

can’t differentiate

between the good

and the bad.

the stars have eyes

but no mouth.

they watched us,

witnessed our own destruction,

and yet said nothing.

the stars can imagine,

but tell no stories.

we’re suitable for entertainment.

our chaos provides

quite the show.

the stars have us

but do we have them?

they say we have

stardust in our veins.

does that mean that

we are like the stars

or that the stars

are like us?
