Snow Day
I peak out the window
My eyes brighten up as I see
White in place of green
Like a blanket
Covering my house
I shriek “Snow!” as I run out the door
My eyes bright
My parents smiling
Pure
Childlike
Joy
Years later
I peak out that same window
To the same sight
But this time
A half smile
No shrieking
No jubilance
As I crawl back into bed
Not so blissfully unaware
Of my surroundings
