Sweet little Alice, working endlessly day and night. So diligent, so dependable, so
strong. With a sparkle in her eyes, pep in her step, and joy in her voice, she’s never without a
smile. No one’s seen Alice with a frown, pout, or sneer. What a girl. What a smart, special girl.
Oh how resilient you are, little Alice. Even at the brink, you masterfully hide behind that mask.
No one must know your struggle, yes? Strong, dependable Alice. You’re meant to help, never
helped. And yet, you falter. That mask of porcelain so smooth chips away, piece by piece, shard
after shard. Slowly that facade breaks away, the ever-dependable Alice cracking under pressure.
You believe false pretense is enough; oh but how wrong you are, Alice. How long till you snap?
Till you crumble? Till you break? How long till you’re thrown over the edge, Alice? Till everyone
sees you for what you truly are: a tired, weathered, broken shell. A husk, used up, and thrown
out like nothing. You don’t want that, do you, Alice? You want to help everyone, keep them
happy, ensure that you’re not a burden; and that you’re wanted. All this effort, with not even the
simplest of praise. Poor Alice; you try so hard, yet no one sees. If only someone, anyone would
grant you that acknowledgment. Then all your efforts would have meaning, have purpose. Tell
me, sweet Alice. How badly do you want recognition? What would you sacrifice for it? If you’re
willing, venture down the Rabbit Hole, and your wishes will be made reality. Won’t you follow
me, Alice?
