Lamb of Deception

Poem by Milena Jandreski ’23

Society and all its restraint bounds us

Breaks us down with falsities

Builds us up with illusions and promises of the american dream

Society our own creation

We feed it like a lamb

It is impressionable and easy to mold like the mind of a small child

We pick and choose our battles but never the right ones

And when we do the lamb that we so carefully fed bites our hand

Bites us and treats us indifferent

Everything so corrupt

So parasitic at its core

Yet it is all we know

And we continue to nurture it

What have we done

We have created a monster
