Gears of War

As you get on the train

Heading to war

I wonder

Will I see you again?

Will I see my husband again?

Or will he be destroyed,

In the gears of war.

The never ending wheel.

Of human violence.

When will it stop?

When will those young men

Look each other in the eyes

and say, “I love you?”

Why?

Why?

Why?

Must we fight?

Why?

Must men be crushed,

In the gears of war?

The answer remains unknown.

And as long as it remains hidden

In the darkness.

Men will continue,

to fall to the gears of war.

The gears of war.
